2015 Programme

SATURDAY 7th FEBRUARY 2015

Back to the past and into the future. He was also the god of Doorways. So we will be looking back at 2014 and looking forward to 2015. 2pm Crown Hotel, Nantwich

SATURDAY 7th MARCH

‘Here Come The Music Makers’

Piva are a group of musicians who play Medieval Music.

Jane and Eric also make some of their instruments and they have very kindly agreed to come and talk to us and demonstrate how the instruments are made and play them. They are based in Leek, so we have David Lycett to thank for what promises to be a fascinating meeting.

EVENTS IN LEICESTER 22nd MARCH until SATURDAY 28th MARCH

As you know this is the week which will see the re-burial of Richard III in Leicester Cathedral.

FRIDAY 10th APRIL : 7.00 p.m.

Dr. John Ashdown Hill returns to talk about the ‘Death of Edward V’.

John’s depth of research has uncovered the distinct possibility that Edward V was dead by September of 1483, but by natural causes. This should be a fascinating evening, followed by a buffet meal at the Crown Hotel, Nantwich.

STURDAY 9th May : 2.00p.m.

By popular request Mark Olly returns to give us the third instalment of ‘Lost Treasures of the North West’

Mark is a brilliant, interesting speaker and I’m sure will hold our attention throughout the afternoon.

Friday 5th June:

An Evening With Annette Carson.

Saturday 11th July:

Heraldry Day at Lichfield.

Sunday 16th August:

Special Sunday lunch at Peckforton Castle

Marion and Richard III's standard

Saturday September 12th:

Richard Unwin, Princes in the Tower

Saturday October 10th:

Visit to Haddon Hall, Derbyshire, lunch at 12.30 p.m in the Hall Restaurant first.  It's an intact Medieval Manor House and is the home of Edward Manners, younger brother of the Duke of Rutland. I believe there is a Ricardian connection in that the Manners are descended from Richard's sister Anne, duchess of Exeter.

Saturday 14th November:

Mark Olly on Robin Hood.
