EVENTS 2014

February 8th : ‘Janus Day’ Looking back – Looking forward to Programme 2014

March 7th : Please note this is a Friday evening held at the Crown Hotel. Philippa Langley will be talking to us about the Greyfriars ‘Dig’ and the Discovery of Richard III. The evening will open at 7.00 p.m. with Philippa’s talk and followed by a buffet meal. This will enable you to meet Philippa and chat with her on an informal basis. This is a private occasion open only to Group members. You will appreciate that the more people that attend the less time there will be to meet Philippa, which is why it is Group members only.

April 12th : ‘Fit For A King’ – Pat Oxley will talk on men’s fashions in  the time of
Richard III.

May 3rd : Mark Olly returns by popular request. Lost Treasures of the North West Part II

June 6th : John Ashdown Hill to talk on Richard’s D.N.A (The Last Days of Richard III and the Fate of his DNA: The Book that Inspired the Dig )

July 12th : Outing to Youlgreave Church and Haddon Hall

August : As we have lots more new members, one of our founder members has suggested a guided tour of the Battlefield might be in order. It's the Bosworth Memorial Weekend on the 16th and 17th, so the previous weekend might be best, because the one following the Bosworth Weekend is Bank Holiday weekend. We will also know the outcome of the judicial review.

September 6th : Outing Day out in Ludlow. if there is enough interest I can arrange to hire a mini-bus and also arrange a guided tour of the Church and Castle if at all possible.

October 11th : Sally Henshaw will be talking on ‘Warwick the Kingmaker’.

November 1st : Medieval Pot Luck meal. We had one of these to celebrate our first birthday and very successful it was too, with Deirdre's salmon as the centre piece.   A visit to Ludlow Christmas Fayre at the end of the month has also been proposed. You'll need your thermals on for this!

December 6th  : Christmas lunch at the Crown Hotel, Nantwich.

Unless otherwise stated all meetings will start at 2.00 p.m.
